MCSS State Conference 2015
Martin Lavelle-The Triple Threat
Mr. Lavelle will speak about how he provides economic education at three levels: educating Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago leadership on the state of the Midwest Economy in order to support monetary policy decision-making, educating the general public on the state of the economy in order to support their desire to receive a fair, unbiased take on current economic developments, and educating teachers on the workings of the economy in order to support the great work teachers do with their students.
Michelle Balconi-Let’s Chat about Economics
Children are economists, it’s time to chat about it. Economics is the study of choices we make to be happy and children do this all day. Learning and applying the basic principles of scarcity, supply, demand and opportunity costs strengthens decision making and empowers children to make choices that serve their best interests.
Economic terms are best learned and implemented when we show examples from everyday life. This session leads educators through lessons surrounding four familiar scenarios of grocery shopping, planning a family trip, summertime activities and hosting a yard sale for a fun and productive understanding of economics.
Give One-Get One
